Hard Hats are designed to protect heads. They do not provide much shade from the sun. Yet those who wear hard hats generally work outdoors and have a significant need for sun protection. Brims for hard hats are a great way of gaining sun protection along with the safety afforded by hard hats.
The brim is made from cotton drill (or a blend in some colours), laminated to open cell foam with an open weave nylon lining. Galvanised wire is used in the brim to provide stiffness. This creates a brim that is lightweight, strong and can be washed. Large legionnaire flaps that reach the shoulders give excellent sun protection.
The other significant difference is that the brim is fastened using unique elastic loops that ensure that it stays in place no matter what the work conditions.
The Standard brim is our most popular style and is designed to fit commonly used hard hats.
Some new styles of hard hats don’t fit the traditional brim. They require a larger head hole and differently positioned fasteners. These are available to suit the Protector HC600, MSA Coolguard and Unisafe with lip helmets.
There are a number of options available, including:
- Brims can be made without any metal, thus reducing risk for those working with electricity,
- Logos can be added to legionnaire flaps to complete the corporate image.
